He is survived by: his wife Lisa; his children, David (Christi) and Pam (Jim); his brother Mel (Jane); his sister-in-law Marcia; and his grandchildren, Michael (Katheryn), Naomi, Lucy, Robert, Saul, Jack Benson, Megan Benson, Matthew Benson and James Benson III.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Family Baptist Church (2201 N Girard Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55411).
