He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Sr. and Angela; and his son Bryan. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Kangas; his children, Jana Akins of Jacksonville, FL, John Akins (Gina) of Shoreview and Alan Akins; and his brother Frank Akins of Tower. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
Herb lost his battle with Parkinson's Disease on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at his home in Hoyt Lakes.
