He was predeceased by: his son Ryan Richard; and his parents, Warren Glessing and Edna Glessing (Melinksy). He is survived by: his wife Astrid Glessing (Hume); his daughter Rita; his son-in-law Jason Strickland; his sister Jeannie; and his siblings-in-law, Ralph Krohn and Renata Herberger. He is also survived by 1 nephew and 4 nieces, along with a host of extended family and friends.

He believed strongly in blood donation and would give often.
