He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Schirmers; his siblings, Gerald and Diane Lehn; his parents, Leo Schirmers and Mary Schirmers; and his son-in-law Richard Cotton.

He is survived by: his children, Shawn Gregoire (Rony), Todd, Brad (Angie) and Sheryl Cotton; his grandchildren, Donovan (Jessica), Sherlie, Christophe, Matthew (Brittany), Julia (Joshua), Blake, Robert (Emina) and Douglas (Abigale); his great grandchildren, Aaden, Amira, Ripley, Lily and Leo; and his sister-in-law Roberta Harrington.
