With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Schlegel of Hokah, Minnesota, born in La Crescent, Minnesota, who passed away on September 21, 2023 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Schlegel and Eleanor Schlegel (Roraff); his sister Sharon Lepsch; and his brothers-in-law, Peter Lepsch, Dick Carrier, Bill Flannery, Bill Ulmen, Don Tschumper, James Tschumper and Bob Tschumper.
He is survived by: his wife Frances; his children, Renee McCabe (Bill), John Schlegel (Lisa), Debbie and Jimmy Schlegel (Robin); his grandchildren, Sara Laufenberg (Mike), Brandon Schlegel (Kelli), Tim Payne (Kasey) and Brad Payne; his great grandchildren, Cullen, Madelyn, Charlie, Maisie, Emma, Wrenly and Frannie; his sisters, Rita Schlegel and Mary Forer (Duane); his stepgrandchildren, Travis Lechner (Chelsea), Justin Lechner (Katy) and Zach Lechner (Lierin); and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Peyton, Liahna, Kayden, Maverick, Carson and Easton.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Peter's Catholic School in Hokah.
