He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sloan and Ruth Sloan; his brothers, John, Glen and Lynn; his son-in-law Ernest Larson, Jr.; and his sisters-in-law, Valrie (Glen) and Eileen (Lynn).

He is survived by: his wife Donna Miller; his children, Patricia Heydon (Jim), Nancy Larson, Bill Sloan (Lynne), Mike Sloan (Janel), Susan Sloan and Jennifer Kennedy (Alan); his grandchildren, Abby Tricker (Adam), Angie Nowicki (Brian), Matthew Sloan, Megan Heydon, Jana Odenthal (Jesse), Emily Heydon, Sam Sloan (Carley), Dan Sloan and Mason Kennedy; his great grandchildren, Emma, Max Odenthal and Lila Tricker; his sister Mary Wehrs (Lyle); and his sister-in-law Dorine Sloan (John).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Peter's School or Church, or Knights of Columbus.
