He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl and Lucille; his siblings, Charles and Peggy; and the mother of his children Lois Haas (Zaudtke) of Hinckley.

He is survived by: his daughters, Diane Bennett (Steve) and Debbie Mitchell-Sanford (Bruce); his grandchildren, Kirsten, Christopher, Meghan, Heather and Grant; and his great grandchildren, Madalyn, Averly, Jude, Callie, Brooklyn and Stan IV. He is also survived by many relatives and friends.
