He is survived by: his children, Barbara Grace (Richard) of Mankato, Don Carlson (Gayle) of Hibbing, Lynda Carlson of Hibbing and Greg Carlson of Hibbing; his siblings, Theodore Carlson (Doris) of St. Paul and Adeline Beireis of Long Prairie; his grandchildren, Shanon Holman (Mandy), Jeffrey Grace (Rachel), Michael Grace (Jessica), Melissa Ketola (Randy), Matt Carlson (Jess), Andrew Carlson (Kristine), Jennifer Maddocks (Donovan) and Tyler Blair (Haley); his great grandchildren, Andrea, Emma, Danny, Nicholas, Kylie, Ethan, Madison, Jacob, Jonathan and Jace; and his friends, Jake Beireis, Shirley Beireis, Lorna Johnson and Lulu Nguyen. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
