He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Hyatt and Aune Hyatt (Puttonen); his siblings, John Hyatt and Laura Griffith; and his niece Tiami Pierson.

He is survived by: his wife Alice (Bird); his sons, Todd (Tammy) of Hibbing, MN and Darin (Michelle) of Oakdale, MN; his grandchildren, Christopher, Nathan, Jacob and Malia; and his sisters, Linda Pierson of Kelly Lake, MN and Linnea Wargowsky of Side Lake, MN. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
