He was predeceased by: his parents, Florian Schmidt and Mildred Schmidt (Dukart); and his wife Rita Catherine Ollendick. He is survived by: his daughter Samantha Peterson (Robert); his siblings, Jeri Cottrell (Steve), Kathie Davis (Terry), Keith Schmidt (Pam), Marlene Campbell (Dale), Virgil Schmidt (Sandy), Perry Schmidt (Lyn), Harlan Schmidt (Kris) and Pam Rach; his close friend Bonita Julius; his granddaughters, Kassandra Sofferman (Michael) and Kayla Peterson; and his great grandchildren, Atticus and Violet.
