She was predeceased by: her parents, Lallie Thies and Hulda Thies; her husbands, Fred Steele and Milton Stegner; her daughter-in-law Katherine Steele; her cousin Lorraine Peters Krog; her aunt Milly Bartz; her uncle Cliff; and her brother Sheldon "Bob" Thies.
She is survived by: her stepsons, Wayne and Gary; her stepgranddaughters, Brenda, Bonnie, Ronae and Rhonda; her son Sheldon Steele of Marshall; her granddaughters, Renae Kain (Mike) of Champlin, MN and Roxanne Swab (Brian) of Sioux Falls, SD; her great grandchildren, Ryker and Tanner Swab of Sioux Falls; her sister-in-law Kathie Thies of Ivanhoe; and her friend Muriel Dorn. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
