He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Sr. Petersen and Mildred Petersen (Travis); his wife Mavis Petersen (Arndt); his sons, Trey and Tim Petersen; and his sisters, T. A. and Genene.
He is survived by: his children, Julie Dalle (Andrew) of Sioux Center, IA, Mark Petersen (Lynn) of Carpinteria, CA and Jeff Petersen (Jennifer) of Brookings, SD; and his daughter-in-law Jean Petersen of Sioux Falls, SD. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
