He was predeceased by: his parents, Edson Fairbanks and Violet Fairbanks (Swanson); his siblings, Joyce Beecher (Orman), Jerry, Kenny (Walene), Gene (Shirley), Melvin, Dale and Delmer; his brother-in-law Jerome Nelson; and his grandchildren, Andy, Violet and D. J..
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Warneke; his children, Mike of Pine City, Rich (Jill) of Sunrise, Shelly Fairbanks-Yates (Scott) of Pueblo, CO and Kelly Lachmiller of Lindstrom; and his sister Janice Nelson of North Branch. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
