He was predeceased by: his parents, Orin Bakken and Betty Bakken (Long); his brother David Bakken; his brother-in-law Gary Stevens; and his niece Trudy Stevens.

He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Bakken of Harmony; his children, Michelle Rice (Jay) of Lime Springs, IA and Jim Bakken (Christy) of Preston, MN; his grandsons, Brandon, Bradley Munkel, Mathew and Joshua Bakken; his stepgrandchildren, Kyle, Brandi (Sam Ollendieck) and Jarrett Rice; his stepgreat-grandson Luke Ollendieck; and his siblings, JoAnn Stevens of Aurora, CO, Nancy Bakken of Rochester, MN, Keith Bakken of Owatonna, MN, Randy Bakken (Meladee) of Stewartville, MN, Carol Bakken of Johnstown, CO and Robin Vrieze (Ronnie) of Racine, MN. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews.
