He is survived by: his wife Theresa Schmidt (Terri) of Halstad, MN; his sons, Roderick Schmidt II (Rod) of Pleasant View, TN, John Schmidt of Fargo, ND and Jeffery Schmidt (Jeff) of Halstad, MN; his grandsons, Gabriel of Pleasant View, TN, Michael of Pleasant View, TN, Noah of Pleasant View, TN and Samuel Schmidt of Pleasant View, TN; his stepsiblings, Annette Mears (Emery) of Rolla, ND, Pat Opstad of Minneapolis, MN, Judi Carr of Morris, MN, Jackie Jacobson (Dan) of Arnold, MD, Sharon Vaa (Galen) of Moorhead, MN, Janelle Jacobson (Al) of Rugby, ND and Dale Wangler (Kris) of Rugby, ND; and his siblings-in-law, Kathy Jorgenson (Greg) of Harwood, ND, Lori Lorenzano (Lou) of Casa Grande, AZ, Kayleen Yoder of Devils Lake, ND, John Brossart (Bernice) of Leeds, ND, Jim Brossart (Tammy) of Rugby, ND, Bob Brossart (Kathy) of Rugby, ND, Allan Brossart (Arlene) of Bismarck, ND and Doug Guss of Wolford, ND. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Holy Family Catholic Church (307 5th Ave E, Halstad, MN 56548).
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Holy Family Catholic Church in Halstad.
