He was predeceased by: his wife Catherine Olstad; his parents, Olaf Olstad and Cora Olstad; and his sister Marian Schroeder. He is survived by: his children, Laura Sundell, Curtis "Butch" Olstad Jr. (Tammi), Audra Etzel (Brad) and Anna Palmer (Trevor); his grandchildren, Brett Sundell, Kayla Stevens (Ryan), Mattia Olstad (Ellis Riley), Hanna Olstad, Meg Etzel (Eric Carlson), Natalie Etzel, Samantha Hopkins (Devin), Sophia Palmer, Stella Palmer and Suzi Palmer; his great grandchild Ryker Stevens of Stanley Etzel; his sisters, Olive Pinske (Tom), Sharon Ellingson and Janet Kostick; and his goddaughter Suzi Jaworski.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Grygla or Masonic Star Lodge 62 in Rockford.
