He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Butler of Grey Eagle; his children, Victoria Belver (Mike) of Alamogordo, Brenda Durheim (Timothy) of Valley City, Damon Butler (Cindy Shinabarger) of Melrose, Jarvis Butler (Laura) of Grey Eagle, Christina Berscheit (Thomas) of Grey Eagle, Chad Butler (Judy) of Grey Eagle, Amanda Van Havermaet (Paul) of Grey Eagle, Aaron Butler of Long Prairie and Chelsea Wolbeck (Matthew) of Freeport; his brothers, John Butler (Elizabeth) of Clarissa, Patrick Butler of Menahga and Bert Butler (Geri) of Verndale; and his sister-in-law Carol Boehland of Bertha. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
