He is survived by: his wife Margot Widman; his children, Heather Richter-Kling of Granite Falls, Nick Richter (Abbey) of Granite Falls and King Richter of Granite Falls; his grandchildren, Elliott Kling, Elayna Kling, Kaitlin Wohlman, Gage Richter, Nash Richter, Gus Richter and Boden Richter; and his siblings, Bill Richter (Linda) of Brookings, SD, Dan Richter (Linda) of Granite Falls, John Richter (Sherry) of Granite Falls, Gail Carstensen (Al) of Hastings, Jean Henle (Mike) of Eden Prairie, Mary Sawatzky (Doug) of Willmar, Tom Richter (Kristi) of Brookings, SD, Jim Richter (Mary Ellen) of St. Cloud, Val Kjellberg (John), Scott Widman (Linda), Jeff Widman and Chris Widman (Elise).

Visitation was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Rock Haven Church (1858 US-212, Granite Falls, MN 56241). A memorial service was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
