She was predeceased by: her husband Raymond Hempel; her parents, Richard Schmidt and Bertha Schmidt; her son-in-law Jeff Sundquist; and her siblings, William Schmidt, Awaldt Schmidt, Art Schmidt, Lorena Buchholz, Lydia Kirschbaum, Ida Kirschbaum, Ella Timm, Mae Mitchell and Hulda Schmidt.
She is survived by: her children, Bradley, Terry Hempel (Rosemary) of Granite Falls, Lynette Sundquist (Tom Sykora) of Sauk Rapids, Brad Hempel (Holly) of Granite Falls, RaeAnn Hegna (Rolland) of Granite Falls and Nanci Jo Zenner (Mark) of Savage; her grandchildren, Kim Koepke (Joe), Cameron Hempel (Jill), Bridget Applegate (Corey), Erica Dusha (Dustin), Adam Sundquist (Jamie), Jesse Hempel (Alicia), Ali Mensink (Brandon), Nik Hempel (Lacey), Dylan Hempel (Gretchen), Jordan Hegna (Megan), Mason Hegna, Brent Hegna, Lawson Zenner (Tarah Stegemann) and McKenzie Zenner; and her brother-in-law Donald Hempel (Shirley) of Granite Falls. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
