He was predeceased by: his parents, John Schommer and Anna Schommer (Eischens); his children, Edward G. Schommer, Scott Schommer and Mary Fern; his grandson Nicholas Schommer; his brothers, Valentine, Clarence, Elmer, John, Andy and Francis Schommer; and his pet Nipper.
He is survived by: his significant other Carolynn Cavender Schommer of Granite Falls; and his children, Matt Schommer (Julie) of Granite Falls, Dawn Chase of Granite Falls, Kari Redwing (Allen) of Granite Falls and Lisa Leaf (Russell) of Granite Falls. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, soon to be 24; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
