He was predeceased by: his parents, William E. Benzing and Myrtle Benzing (Dayton); his wife Marie Phillips James; his granddaughter Cindy James; his son-in-law Doug Olds; and his grandson-in-law Damian Cromartie.

He is survived by: his children, Donna Olds, Patti Silvis (Mike) and Roger James; and his grandchildren, Darla Rima (Rob), Diann Suoja (Tim), Heather Silvis, Mike Silvis (Misty), Bryan James (Mara), Pete Silvis (Stephanie) and Adam James (Marie). He is also survived by great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
