He was predeceased by: his parents, Levi Komula and Saime Komula; his son Michael; and his siblings, Arnold, Shirley and Verlene.

He is survived by: his children, Karen Schlink (Brett) of Deer River, MN and Duane Komula of Wawina, MN; and his sister Elaine Ahlgren (George) of Duluth, MN. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
