He was predeceased by: his parents, J. R. "Bob" Downing and Eleanor Downing. He is survived by: his siblings, Mary, Catherine, Patrick (Holly), Will (Cindy), Tom (Janet), John (Holly Christenson) and Rob (Ellen Smilanich). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends.
He also served as president of the board at the Northland Foundation.
