He was predeceased by: his father Michael Griffin; and his brother Mark Griffin. He is survived by: his mother Faye Griffin; his wife Beverly; his daughter Ashley Ortiz (David); his grandson Michael Ortiz; his siblings, Mary Beaulieu (Ray) and Mace Griffin; his nieces, Sara Loucks, Sheila Buell and Susan Higgins; his nephew Ben Halvorson; and his brother-in-law Larry Halvorson (Rachel).

Memorials are suggested to the NMESSC Mike Griffin Memorial which will mentor kids with camp scholarships, youth firearms safety and dog handling.
