He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Joseph Lauer and Francis Sylvie Lauer (Kleckner); his brother William Henry; his daughter-in-law Renie F. Lauer; and his granddaughter Amber Jean Trebil.

He is survived by: his wife Lucille Joan Petz; his children, Carol Edison (Loren), William "Bill" (Pam Fore) and Edward "Jay" (Becky); his grandchildren, Tony, Clayton, Lucky, Joe, Brody, Jackie, Jaylynn and Libbey; and his great grandchildren, Jordan, Aubrey, Oliver and Kimber.
