He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Mathiason and Mary Mathiason; his wife Phyllis Arlene Pochardt; his son George; and his siblings, Orrin, Carl, Ron, Gary, Annette, Elsa, Erlene, Leana, Marie and Charlotte.
He is survived by: his sons, Dennis Mathiason (Cindy) of Armstrong, IA and Dean Mathiason (Sandie) of Emmons, MN; his grandchildren, Nicole Hintz (Rod) of Richfield, MN, Scott Mathiason (Hayley) of Hinton, IA and Will Mathiason (Kristina) of Worthing, SD; and his great grandchildren, Connor Hintz, Jaci Hintz, Duncan Mathiason, Hudson Mathiason, Magnus Mathiason, Kristi Mathiason and Jaxyn Mathiason. He is also survived by 3 sons, 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
