He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Sorenson and Dora Sorenson (Bruhjell); and his siblings, Duane and Bonita (Per Hopperstad). He is survived by: his wife Betty; his daughters, Vicki Smith (Ed) of Carroll, IA, Tami Black (Rocky) of Big Sky, MT and Trudy Wilmer (Mike) of Moorhead, MN; his grandchildren, Noah (Kathy), Adam Smith, Hannah Olson (Evan), Kaitlyn Sorenson-Black, Zachary (Jenna), Brice Johnson, Aaron (Hailey), Alex (Savanna) and Andrea Wilmer (Jackson Judisch); his great grandchildren, Easton, Blayne Johnson, Kinsley Judisch and Max Olson; his brothers, Les Sorenson (Judy) and Terry Sorenson (Faye); and his siblings-in-law, Leila Churness, Ardella Lindberg (Marvin), Karen Vogh (Vern) and Helmer Hanson. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
