He was predeceased by: his wife Evelyn Van Riper (Olson); his parents, William Riper and Anna Van Riper; his siblings, Paul, Vernon and Herald; and his grandson John Patrick.
He is survived by: his sons, Ron Van Riper (Kay) and Rick Van Riper (Mary Jo); his grandchildren, Justin Van Riper (Danielle), Amy Koffski (Erik) and Laura Van Riper; and his great grandchildren, Myles, April, Ellie, Grace, Rowen and Everett.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to K9s for Warriors and Give Kids the World.
