She was predeceased by: her parents, Andrew Gaarder and Hazel Gaarder (Swensrud); her husband LuVerne Kenneth Flaten; her son Duane "Dewey"; and her siblings, Arvid Gaarder, Adeline Rundquist, Lorraine Tobias, Arlis Sylvester, Paul Gaarder and Dean Gaarder.
She is survived by: her sons, Michael Flaten (Terry) of Mounds View, MN and Paul Flaten (Carrie) of Northfield, MN; her grandchildren, Jennifer Gear (Mark) of Bayport, MN, Jeremy Flaten (Emily), Jessica Bakken of Rochester, MN and Nisa Knodt (Stephen) of Phoenix, AZ; and her great grandchildren, Clayton, Samuel, Ella Flaten, Carson and Celia Gear. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
