He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Gulbrandson and Alice Gulbrandson (Rugroden); his granddaughter Whitney; his sister-in-law Vicki Gulbrandson; his nephew Daniel Gulbrandson; and his niece Brooke Gulbrandson.
He is survived by: his former wife Charlotte Anderson; his wife Shelley Kleven; his daughters, Denise Merten (Scott), Kimberly Shoemaker (Kevin) and Angela Blythe (Trey); his stepchildren, Melanie Kleven, Jamie Nelson (Jon), Seth Kleven (Jessica Bjornstad) and Paul Kleven (Patricia); his grandchildren, Preston Merten (Alyssa), Cayden Merten, Rilen Merten, Trenten Oudekerk, Brooks Blanche and Kane Blythe; his great grandchild Payton Raine-Rush Oudekerk; his stepgrandchildren, Jenna Kleven, Brooks, Charlie Nelson, Kade, Kian Kleven, Corynn and Owen Kleven; and his brothers, Greg (Carol), Jim (Mary) and John (Denise).
