He was predeceased by: his father Howard Smith; and his sister Debbie. He is survived by: his mother Mildred Smith (Boyer) of Virginia; his wife Patti Carlson; his children, David C. Smith (Rebecca) of Virginia, MN, Greg C. Smith (Laura) of Markham, MN, Jenna M. Asuma (Ted) of Gilbert, MN and Claire N. High (Matt) of Ely, MN; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth, C. J., Payson, Finley, Violet, Kai and Channing. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
