With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Darrel Schmidt of Gaylord, Minnesota, born in Winthrop, Minnesota, who passed away on February 8, 2024 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Schmidt and Emma Schmidt (Messner); his granddaughter Amber Schmidt; and his grandchildren-in-law, Caroline Overson (Clayton), Ethel Bednarski (Joe), Eli, Orville (Beatrice), Alvin "Swede" (Delores), Arthur (Alma), Delbert (Jeanette), Donald (Cleo), Lester "Skip" (Shirley), Elmer "Doc" (Hazel), Eugene (Ella Mae), Richard, Merlin and Kenneth.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Mary (Carlson); his children, Denise Holloway (Michael) of Bella Vista, AR, Dennis of Sandstone, MN, Doreen Guggisberg (Allan) of Lafayette, MN and Derrick (Janell) of Lynchburg, VA; and his sisters-in-law, Vera Schmidt (Kenneth), Mary Ann Berte (Merlin) and Betty Wirtz (Richard). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
