He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Prestegord and Irma Prestegord (Allrich); his siblings, Virgil Prestegord and Heidi Boe; and his nieces, Tanya Thornton Walz and Kaila Dalby.

He is survived by: his wife Verona Prestegord; his children, Trent (Katrina), Dalton (Angela), Brock, Cody and Carigen Prestegord; his grandchildren, Ashton, Logan, Lane, Sadie "Dolly" and Carson; his siblings, David Prestegord (Phyllis), Phillis Weium (Lynn) and LeAnn Houglum (Larry); and his sister-in-law Christine Dalby. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
