He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Spiess and Augusta Spiess (Thompson); his granddaughters, Evelyn and Charlotte Spiess; and his siblings, Luella Drawdy, Karen Roush, Sylvia Rehbein, Norma Williams, Ernest Spiess and Darlene Colson.

He is survived by: his wife Margot Evans; his children, Chad Spiess (Maria), Jillene Chitulangoma, Adam Spiess (Lindsey), Rebekah Zinnecker (Michael), Matthew Spiess, Andrew Spiess (Katie), Angela Carlson (Jeffrey), Kate Ramirez (Alex), Leah Willms (Jeremy) and Marian Spiess; and his siblings, Marilyn McClintock, Duane Spiess, Gary Spiess (Annette) and Elieen Anderson (David). He is also survived by 39 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
