He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Smith Sr. of Washington and Mina Zeruah Monnett Smith; his sister Betty Jean Douthett; and his siblings-in-law, Marshall Douthett, Jack Brunton and Doris Tufte (Wisbroecker).
He is survived by: his wife Mary Louise Smith; his daughter Sheila Marie Smith; his son-in-law Perry McGowan; and his brother-in-law Obert Tufte. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as a son and two grandchildren.
Memorials in lieu of flowers are requested to go to the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.
