He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Nikula and Sophie Nikula (Kalander); his siblings, Richard and Marlis Runnberg; and his nephew Richard Nikula Jr..

He is survived by: his wife Joretta Fenstad; his children, Lori Driscoll (Pat) and Tom Nikula; his granddaughter Kaija Beamer (Aaron Hansen); his siblings, Dean Nikula, Delma Nyblom and Ginger Tolzmann (Paul); and his brother-in-law Don Runnberg.
