He was predeceased by: his parents, Antone Saurer and Irene Saurer; and his brothers, James, Donald and David.
He is survived by: his brother Tom (Lyla); and his children, Mark (Magda), John Jr. (Linda), Jennifer and Matthew (Angela). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
