He is survived by: his mother Lorraine Kantrud (Toso); his children, Ryan Kantrud (Heather) and Katie Kantrud (Ashley); his siblings, Larry Kantrud, Kay Dahl (Michael) and Jane Anderson (Scott); his grandchildren, Maisie, Parker, Haakon, Ty and Hutton; his friend Becky Kantrud; and his fiancé Sherilyn Thiel. He is also survived by cousins who were like siblings; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial account has been set up at Bell Bank in Fergus Falls in memory of David Kantrud. Funds donated in honor of David's memory will be used for something close to his heart — youth hockey.
