He was predeceased by: his siblings, Sandy and Wayne; and his parents, Ethel and Walter. He is survived by: his children, Brent (Amanda) and Melissa; his close friend Lynn Johnson (Lynnie); his grandchildren, Baby Mahlstedt, Toby, Brutus and Bailey; and his siblings, Barb Mikkelson (Lowell) and Larry (Vivian). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
