He was predeceased by: his parents, Archie Ernste and Dorothy Ernste (Bauer); his brother Ralph Ernste; and his father-in-law Norton Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Pat Ernste of Faribault, MN; his children, Bob Ernste (Tanya) of Faribault, MN and Sara Standke (Jeremy) of Medford, MN; his grandchildren, Kayla, Corbyn, Griffin (Skylyn) and Collin (Isabelle Huizel); his siblings, Tony Ernste (Lavonne) of Elysian, MN, MaryAnn Patee (Steve) of Faribault, MN and Marlene Reineke (Tom) of Faribault, MN; his mother-in-law Virginia Johnson of Faribault, MN; and his siblings-in-law, Mike Johnson (Janna) of Cave Creek, AZ, Bob Johnson (Rose) of Faribault, MN, Paul Johnson of Faribault, MN, Nort Johnson (Shelly) of Faribault, MN and Barb Parks (Bill) of Grapevine, TX. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family prefers that memorials be directed to Brighton Hospice or the American Legion Post 43 in memory of Steve.
