It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Phyllis M. Malecha of Faribault, Minnesota, who passed away on November 28, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonard Rost and Margaret Rost (Kitzman); her husband James J. Malecha; and her children, Melanie Malecha, Steve, Scott and Jeff.
She is survived by: her children, Jim Malecha (Corinne) of Hugo, MN, Sue Nasby (Mike) of Northfield, MN and Shelley Klemensen (Jon) of Faribault, MN; her daughters-in-law, Cindy Malecha of Faribault, MN and Julie Malecha of Colonial Beach, VA; her grandchildren, Dan Malecha (Aubrey Tyler), Lauren Malecha, Willy Malecha (Ali Jo), Jeremiah Malecha (Marissa), Megan Heston (Scott), Alex VanMeter (David), Michael Nasby Jr., Jaclynn Friesen, Gerald Friesen and Matthew Friesen; her great grandchildren, Courtney, Kalleigh, Jax, Katie, Jeffrey, Ashley, Silas and Hudson; and her sister Lenore Grinde (Allan) of Faribault, MN. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church (139 Mercy Dr, Faribault, MN 55021). A Mass was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 from 1:15 PM to 1:45 PM at the Calvary Cemetery (3415 Calvary Dr, Faribault, MN 55021).
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorials be directed to the Steve Malecha Scholarship Fund at Bethlehem Academy High School in memory of Phyllis.
