He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Swanson and Cleta Swanson (Cowan); his son Wesley James; and his brothers, Bill and Clarence.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Kitzman; and his children, Nick Swanson (Jeanine) of Eagan, Cheryl Dubbels (Steve) of Eagan, Randy Swanson of Brighton, CO and Greg Swanson (Jessica) of Cannon Falls. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one on the way; nieces and nephews.
