He was predeceased by: his parents, John Welchlin and Minnie Welchlin; his wife Bernadene; his siblings, Walter Welchlin, Harry Welchlin, Louis Welchlin, Milton Wlechlin, Edward Welchlin, George Welchlin, Frieda Meyer, Alma Eisenmenger, Louise Welchlin, Mable Dressely and Redina Janssen; and his son-in-law Gary Hoppe.

He is survived by: his daughter Mary Schoener (James) of Fairmont, MN; his grandchildren, Nicholas Hoppe (Evalynne) of Fairmont, MN, Dominic Schoener (Sarah) of Rifle, CO, Jessica Schoener of Eden Prairie, MN and Katie Benck (Aaron) of East Chain, MN; and his great grandchildren, McKenna Benck, Keira Benck and Alex Benck. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
