It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marlin D. Smith of Fairmont, Minnesota, who passed away on October 20, 2021, at the age of 70, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lowell Smith and Helen Smith (Rademaker); his brothers, Harlan Smith and David "Toots" Smith; and his brother-in-law Thomas "Sam" Koenecke.
He is survived by: his former wife Katherine Koenecke; his son Todd of Fairmont; his close friends, Andy and Sparky; his great-nephews, David and Beckett Koenecke; his great-niece Jade Koenecke; his wife Kathy Smith of Fairmont; his children, Kim Niebuhr (Elver) of New Ulm, MN and Jeff Smith of Fairmont; his siblings, Steve Smith (Nancy) of Blue Earth, MN, Greg "Shorty" Smith of Blue Earth, MN, Jeanne Schofield (Brian) of Fairmont, Pam Tonn (Jim) of Winnebago, MN, Diane Smith of St. Peter, MN and Wendy Brown (Steve) of Blue Earth, MN; his siblings-in-law, Wanda Smith of Blue Earth, MN, Randy Koenecke (Lisa) of Welcome, MN, Gary "Bim" Koenecke of Welcome, MN and Vicki Whitehead (Jim) of Sherburn, MN; and his pets, Andy and Sparky.
