She was predeceased by: her parents, Anna Linnea Ohman (Flodström) and Birger Ohman; her husband Charles "Knute" Backstrom; her son Daniel; and her brothers, Ralph and Roy.
She is survived by: her children, Lori Evans (Karl) and Gregg Backstrom (Mary); her grandchildren, Stacy Denman (Jake), Taylor Evans (Shawna) and Megan Simons (Aaron); and her siblings-in-law, Helen Nelson and Bernie Mens. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
