Francis W. Swanson Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Francis W. Swanson of Fairmont, Minnesota, who passed away on December 3, 2020, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Grant Swanson and Anna Swanson (Zielski); his former wife Mae Swanson; his parents-in-law, Sam and Emma Riegel; his siblings-in-law, Marv Holland, Maurice Holland, Leonard Riegel, Richard Riegel, Ella Jean Holland, Muriel Riegel and Charlene Swanson; and his nephew Charlie Lenz.

He is survived by: his former wife Mae Riegel; his wife Wilma Swanson of Fairmont, MN; his children, Daniel Swanson (Mary) of Fairmont, MN, Linda Sauck (Brian) of Fairmont, Roger Swanson (Heidi) of St. Michael, MN and Cathy Frasier (Matthew "Lee") of Houston, TX; his grandchildren, Christopher Swanson (Kerri), Kayla Swanson, Michael Sauck, Matthew Sauck (Ashley), Rachael Sauck, Zachary Swanson (Toni), Breanna Eull (Dean), Stephanie Langston (Josh), Justin Schneewind (Yuricel), Taylor Frasier, Tanner Frasier (Hayley) and Sam Frasier; his great grandchildren, Tyler Swanson, Ben Swanson, Henry Sauck, Chase Sauck, Leighton Swanson and Audrey Langston; his stepchildren, JoAnn Myers (Curt) of Fairmont, MN, Jeff Bird of Fairmont, MN, Carolyn Bird of Fairmont, MN and Dennis Mattson (Carol) of St. Cloud, MN; his siblings, Marian Holland, Robert Swanson, Elaine Lenz (Lester) and Edward Swanson (Lorna); and his sister-in-law Liz Riegel. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family asks that people are mindful of social distancing guidelines, wearing masks and best practices in helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or to the donor's choice.
