With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Arvid D. Thate of Fairmont, Minnesota, who passed away on August 31, 2021 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Thate and Frieda Thate (Fritz); his parents-in-law, Edward and Alma Sloneker; his siblings, Vanard and Delores; and his siblings-in-law, Lyle Sloneker, Jim Sloneker, Gerald Sloneker, Duane Sloneker (Rita), Carol Smith (Arthur), Betty Prochniak (Ray) and Elaine Pohlman (Leland).

He is survived by: his wife Janice Sloneker of Fairmont, MN; his children, Scott Thate of Fairmont, MN and Lisa Thate of Truman, MN; his grandchildren, Lindsey Nix (Robert), Katie Thate, Levi Thate (Caitlin), Brielle Griese (Aaron), Caleb Thate (Summer), Matt Murphey (Miranda) and Jessica Armitage; his great grandchildren, Rebekah, Kaitlyn, Makaylah, Adrian, Lukas, Charlie, Anthony, Timothy, Bradyn, Alaina, Elias, Veydah, Brynlee, Zoie Thate, Naomi and Connor Murphey; his sisters, Devorah Schwieger (Lynn) and Verdell Harmon; and his siblings-in-law, Howard Sloneker and Mae Sloneker. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
