He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Schmid and Ann Marie Schmid (Dexler); and his sister Kathy Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Joann Schmid of Hutchinson, MN; his children, John Schmid (Stacie) of Rochester, MN, Michael Schmid (Lauri) of Savage, MN and Amy Vander Veen (Jared) of Hutchinson, MN; his grandchildren, Samantha Schmid, Mackenzie Schmid, Cassi Chrzanowski (Jake), Kenneth Haug III (Gretchen), Kristi D'Agostino (Anthony), Brianna Schmid and Evan Bertram; his great grandchildren, Carter Gates, Henry Chrzanowski, Thomas Chrzanowski, Lillian D'Agostino, Benjamin D'Agostino and Madison Hamm; his brothers, Steve Schmid (Mary Ellen) of Prior Lake, MN, Rick Schmid (Bernie) of Phoenix, AZ and Mark Schmid (Sandy Dennis) of Maple Grove, MN; and his brother-in-law Larry Johnson of Hector, MN. He is also survived by Many other relatives and friends.
