She was predeceased by: her parents, Bertel Petersen and Marie Petersen; her former husbands, Harold E. Utzinger and Nicolas McConnell; and her siblings, Herloff, Holger, Howard, Pearl, Opal, Ruby and Fern.
She is survived by: her husband Donald K. Utzman; her sons, Michael Utzinger (Carolle) and Mark Utzinger (Miho); her granddaughters, Kaye, Mari and Anne; her stepgrandchildren, Cole, Louise, Drew and Brooke; and her great grandchildren, Lynn, Rick, Leo and Nao. She is also survived by other loving family members and devoted friends.
She went on to become the Lyon County Chair of the Countryside Council, a community action organization funded by the Kellogg Foundation, and she was eventually awarded a Bush Leadership Fellowship for that work.
