He was predeceased by : his father David Shanesy. He is survived by : his wife Renee; his children, Kelsey (Dan) and Nick; his grandchildren, Cadence and Holly; his mother Anne Shanesy; and his siblings, Susan Matthews (Frank), Scott Shanesy (Janet), Sheila Fleming (Mike), Dan Shanesy (Martha) and Jim Shanesy (Norma). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Minnesota Land Trust, Wounded Warrior Project, or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
